Greetings!! I am Luke Paliocha and I have been involved with Maine Adaptive Sports for more than 25 years. For the first five, from age five through ten, I was a participant. Then through the careful guidance of some of the best skiers at Sunday River, who also happened to be volunteer coaches on the Maine Adaptive Race Team, (John Stolecki, Rob Brennan, John Freeman and many more, I became a competitive skier racing on slopes from Breckinridge, Colorado, to my home ski Mountain, of Sunday River. I have gained confidence as a skier and freedom as an adaptive skier, freedom to fly down slopes on some of the most beautiful terrain, surrounded by some of the most gorgeous vistas, in the cold crisp winter air. Without Maine Adaptive, none of this would have ever been possible or even a dream to attain.
Today, I have come full circle. I am now an invested and devoted volunteer to help as many others as one man can, attain some of the same joys that have been gifted to me from this inspirational program and dedication of hundreds of volunteers and staff. I also try my best to raise funding for adaptive programs.
Luke’s Lucky Skiers was created when I was six years old under the leadership of my mentors, Mary Corkum and Jim Pac and Mark Roy. Today we are the same in spirit with continuing members, including Jim Pac (for 25 years) and his wife Linda, always an honorary member and some beautiful new faces: Becca, Madison Morgan and Jacob Lenart.
Our goal is to keep this program going strong one volunteer hour at a time and one dollar at at time. We have managed, with the help of supporters like YOU, to be one of the top ten fundraising teams for the last four or five years and we hope to continue this run this year.
We request your help by donating as much as you are comfortable donating. Kindly use the following link to help us help Maine Adaptive in giving people freedom to fly and fulfill dreams they may have never imagined, like I did. Thank-you so much from the bottom of our hearts, Luke, Jim P, Jim D., Becca, Madison and Jacob
