Maine Adaptive has had a huge impact on my life. As a second year volunteer, I had an enjoyable experience teaching a deaf 5 year old child how to ski. It is so rewarding because I see the positive impact Maine Adaptive and I have on someone else who reminds me so much of myself. Maine Adaptive had that same impact on me when I first started skiing with Maine Adaptive when I was five years old.
For those who don’t know me, I have cerebral palsy and I’m deaf. My passion is skiing. Now I am skiing independently almost every weekend from the first snowfall until the last snow melts
Volunteering with Maine Adaptive gives me tremendous joy to see participants overcome their challenges, build confidence in their ability to ski, and enjoy the sport I love. I had the opportunity to guidblind/visually impaired ladies at their different levels of skiing. A deaf person guides a blind student - how cool is that?!
Please join me in supporting Maine Adaptive by donating to the 2025 Ski-A-Thon. Your contribution allows Maine Adaptive to continue this great work to allow other disabled people to enjoy the sport of skiing and gain independence. With your donation, more than 400 individuals will be able to enjoy outdoor recreation like you do. Thank you for your support.
